Storrington Primary

May 2026

On 14 May, we were very pleased and excited to deliver a donation of guttering materials to support Storrington Primary School’s new SEN space.

It is fantastic to be part of a project that will create a supportive and inclusive environment for children to learn, grow and thrive. A huge well done to everyone involved. It was brilliant to meet everyone.

Pulborough Allotment

April 2026

We were delighted to deliver compost to the fantastic Pulborough Community Allotment in partnership with Pulborough Parish Council in April.

It was great to meet some of the volunteers and see all the fruit and vegetables being grown. There is clearly a lot of hard work, care and community spirit at the allotment, and it is brilliant to see local people coming together to create something so positive.

If you have an interest in gardening, growing your own produce or simply want to have a natter over a few plants, pay them a visit and see what they are all about.

Pulborough Shedders

March 2026

We were honoured and delighted to be invited to the official opening of the Pulborough Shedders’ new shed in Thakeham.

The event was officially opened by the High Sheriff and was a great opportunity to catch up with the Shedders and see how hard they have worked to build both an amazing shed and a strong community.

They truly are a fantastic organisation, and we are thrilled to partner with them and promote the work they do.

Pulborough Pancake Event

February 2026

What a flippin’ fantastic day at the Annual Great Pancake Event in Pulborough.

We are always delighted to sponsor this brilliant event. The team works tirelessly to serve the community and raise vital funds for some truly amazing causes. From start to finish, it was a real stack of success.

The proceeds supported Macmillan Palliative Care in Midhurst, the Billingshurst Macmillan Group, Pulborough Lunch Club and Education West Africa.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers, organisers and everyone who came along. We are pleased to stand alongside you and help make such a meaningful difference.

Bonfire Night

November 2025

The teams were out before the annual bonfire weekend, delivering pallets to help build bonfires at local community events in Cranleigh and Pulborough.

We are pleased to support these fantastic local events and the hardworking volunteers who make them happen every year. It was a great effort from the team and embodied everything that Laker represents: community, local support and first-class service.

Trade Morning

April 2025

On Friday 4 April 2025, we held our first-ever Trade Morning at CBS Pulborough.

The event was a great success, bringing customers and suppliers together over bacon butties provided by Mike’s Posh Nosh, our on-site burger van. Thanks to our generous suppliers, we were also able to organise a raffle, with the proceeds split between two local organisations: the Mary How Trust and Pulborough Shedders.

The Mary How Trust offers private health screenings on a pay-as-you-can-afford basis, helping people lead healthier lives and identify potential health problems as early as possible.

Pulborough Shedders, part of the Men in Sheds movement, meet twice weekly to work on projects and share a cup of tea. Men in Sheds was established to improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and combat social isolation. An estimated 33,000 people benefit from sheds internationally, and we are very pleased to support our local group.

The event took place at Cowfold Village Hall and provided an evening of fun, excitement and community spirit.

Pulborough Pancake Event

March 2025

We were flippin’ delighted to support the Pulborough Pancake Event on Tuesday 4 March.

The organisers managed to sell more than 520 pancakes during the day. Not content with simply sending over a cheque, Laker’s own Morgan and Reece went along to, ahem, taste-test the pancakes and join in the fun with the raffle.

They are pictured above with organiser Paddy. As well as being quite delicious, the event raised £3,550 for Macmillan Palliative Care, Pulborough Lunch Club and Educate West Africa.

Cranleigh Carnival

June 2024

In June 2024, the Cranleigh Team arrived at their first ever Cranleigh Carnival.

The annual event is organised by the Cranleigh Lions and boasts over 100 stalls including food and drink, local businesses and charities, children's entertainment and of course the famous procession to top it all off!

Attendees were invited to a ‘Lakerised Lucky Dip’ with our mini bulk bags hiding a variety of sweets and prizes. Donations were collected and donated to the Lions fund, which supports local causes and the community.

Ongoing Support

While making way for our new range of Frenchic Paint, we found ourselves with a surplus of around 30 cans of paint and no space left on our shelves.

Rather than let it go to waste, our first thought was to give it a second life somewhere it would really matter, and the Pulborough Shedders immediately came to mind. In true Shedder style, they did not just accept the paint — they branded it.

Their tongue-in-cheek new paint collection has been named “Hint of Sawdust” and will be sold to raise funds for the club. We are pleased to support such a brilliant local group and glad that a simple act of clearing shelf space became something that will benefit many others.
